163 E 2000 Road, Wellsville KS 66092 (north of Baldwin City near Route 56)
“Free Soilers” fought pro-slavery men here June 2, 1856, in this early (maybe first) armed conflict between semi-organized groups. The numbers were small and the casualties few, but the story is a good one. Look for a battle map on the park website or take a free guided tour weekends during the summer.
Open daylight hours.
