Trail parking lot at intersection of Route 18 and Old Port Gibson Road, Raymond MS 39154
A Confederate attack May 12, 1863, against one of Grant’s columns southeast of Raymond failed to stop the Union advance north toward the Southern Railroad connecting Vicksburg and Jackson. After initial Southern success, far greater Union numbers finally won the day during a confused, back-and-forth battle. Visitors to the battlefield now find an interpreted, paved walking trail through preserved battlefield property. Another piece of preserved battlefield is located less than a mile south along Route 18.
Open daylight hours. Free.
