120 Fort Donelson Shores Road, Dover TN 37058
A 6-mile self-guided driving tour explores Confederate Cumberland River fortifications that were taken in an army-navy operation led by Union Gen. U.S. Grant. The Confederates gave up Feb 16, 1862, after Grant famously demanded "unconditional and immediate surrender." Parts of the Dover Hotel have been restored with exhibits related to meetings of the Confederate high command and the surrender.
