1-2   TN    Anniversary talks and tours at the Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro.

8   VA   Lecture, “Virginia’s Secession Crisis, the Struggle to Decide,” at the Capital Ale House, 623 E Main St, Richmond. 6:30 pm. Free.

9   VA   Lecture, “Central Virginia: A Better Killing Machine,” at Bull  Daddy’s, 7643 Richmond Highway, Appomattox. 6:30 pm. Free.

25   VA   Lecture, “The History and Hollywood of Glory,” at the American Civil War Museum in Appomattox. 6:30 reception, 7 pm talk. $10/adult.


16-18   FL   Reenactment, “Battle of Olustee,” at the Olustee Battlefield Historic Park, 5815 Battlefield Trail, near Sanderson. Camps and demonstrations all days. Artillery night firing Friday evening. Battles at 3:30 pm Saturday, 1:30 pm Sunday. $10/adult.

24-25   SC   Reenactment, “Battle of Aiken,” 1210 Powell Pond Road, Aiken. Camps and demonstrations with battles each day. Gates open 9 am. $12/adult.

25   VA   “Battle of Ball’s Bluff Remembrance Dinner” and lecture, “The Joint Committee on the Conduct of the War,” at The Woodlands at Algonkian, 47001 Fairway Drive, Sterling. 5:30-9:30 pm. $55. 703-352-5900.

MAY 2018

15   VA   Walking tour, “Director’s Tour” of the New Market battlefield.  2-4 pm. Registration required: 866-515-1864.

19-20   VA   Reenactment, “Battle of New Market” in at the battlefield in New Market. Camps open 10 am-5 pm each day. Battles each day.

JUNE 2018

2-3   VA   Reenactment, “Fort Pocahontas,” at the site just off Route 5 between Richmond and Williamsburg. Camps open 10 am-4 pm Saturday, 10 am-2 pm Sunday. Battles at 1 pm each day.

JULY 2018

28   KY    Cruise,  “Reenactors Riverboat Cruise,” based in Newport. River Queen cruise for living historians. Includes dinner and dancing. $75.
